Brazil - Sitio Posses
TASTING NOTES: Well, it’s not our first go round of Sitio Posses and it won’t be our last. Our pal Phil from Cargo gave us the hotline on this one a couple of years ago and it’s one we’re happy to bring back from the most recent harvest. Super smooth and balanced - a dollop of syrupy sweetness backed by rich milk chocolate notes, and a stewed fruit kicker. Not too challenging, it’s an ideal breakfast coffee or all day drinker.
Sitio Posses is a coffee farm located in the Campestre region, run by the traditional coffee-producing César family. The family are the fourth generation to produce coffee at Sitio Posses with the entire family are actively involved in the production process, particularly during the post-harvest stage.
Due in part to the farm's altitude of 1150 meters and a slightly later August harvest, the farm is well positioned to produce exceptional coffee. Unusually for the region the family choose to produce both pulped natural and natural coffee.
Post harvest sorting, fermentation, and drying is often the most technical part of coffee production and is the point at which time and care and can add great deal of value and quality to the the finished coffee. Gislaine is entirely responsible for the post-harvest process on the natural coffees and Gisele responsible for the pulped natural coffee. Two young coffee producers applying the techniques passed down by previous generations while also paying attention to modern processing methods. Our selection from Sitio Posses is a Natural, Yellow Catuai, a type of coffee known for its sweet, fruity flavours and smooth, balanced acidity.
