WHO WE ARE

COFFEE NINJAS

As employers, and as normal thinking human beings, we believe in everyone’s right to equality. We acknowledge our privilege and are currently striving for diversity as we grow the team.

The Good Coffee Cartel is a safe place of encouragement and we aim to provide a fun, collaborative working environment with each member of our team valued for the wonderful, hard working people that they are. We are fortunate to have the incredibly talented team below who have a wide range of coffee knowledge & experience.

We are proud members of the Living Wage Foundation and are committed to always pay above the Glasgow Living Wage.

  • Todd, Co-Founder

French Press is making a comeback

    il fait du cyclisme aussi

    Munro meanderer

With a coffee career that reaches back fifteen years, Todd has a wide range of skills in coffee without ever truly being fantastic at any of them. Passionate about customer service. Literally still believes that French Press is the superior way to consume coffee. (It is.)

  • Courtney, Co-Founder

    a.k.a COCO

    Norrlands dweller

    Keen eye for design

They know him as The Tinkerman round these parts. Courtney is the force behind consistent improvements at casa Cartel since we opened in 2017. Over a decade in the game from brewing to roasting and now he even gets to do fun things like finance. He has an eye for detail and a weakness for nice bits of design: We have seen him grossly overspend on a wallet just because it had a nice little button on it.

  • Tony, Head Roaster

    Caffeine Pedaller

    Does not own a TV

    a.k.a Calm Tony.

Tony was the first person to enquire about career opportunities when we first opened our doors. Here we are five years later and now he’s our Head Roaster. Tony comes to us with a wide range of experience having designed coffee bars, podiumed in coffee competitions and managed coffee shops. Tony handles our training, wholesale, roasting and everything in between.

  • Caroline, Co-ordinator

    Likes whales…

    …but couldn’t eat a whole one

Best friend of Padraig the Spaniel

Caroline gets it done. Whether it's packing wholesale orders, labelling tins, sorting out our retail display or bossing it behind the bar at the weekend, the hustle is real. Pretty much if you want something done it’s done before you even realised you wanted it done. It’s a gift.

  • Philip, Shop Manager

Surfer of waves, both ocean and Kalita

    Aussie rules footballer

    Wicked moustache

Philip is one of the Glasgow coffee scene O.Gs. Having carved out experience at some of the best speciality coffee shops in town, he now takes the reins of our own coffee bar. How can that flat white look so tasty? Why is the coffee range always on point? Why have we got the best donuts in town? You’re looking at the answer.

  • Beck, Trainee Roaster & Barista

    Thespian

    Powered by insulin & caffeine

    Most colourful jumpers

Beck can pretty much do it all these days. Coming to us from one of those big chain coffee places of which we dare not speak, she has leapt up the steep learning curve of coffee and now splits her time between roasting and brewing. Basically she’s with the beans all the way from sack to cup.

  • Frankie, Barista

    Hot sauce connoisseur

    SCA Sensory Skilled

    Selector of decent tunes

Frankie may be the newest espresso wrangler at the Cartel, but she’s no rookie. Having gained experience in speciality coffee shops elsewhere in the city, she joins us full of enthusiasm for all things caffeine and a scientific approach to improving coffee recipes.

  • Thinking about a career with The Good Coffee Cartel?

If you’re someone who loves coffee, customer service and has the right attitude then we’d be happy to hear from you anytime. Send us an email with your coffee story (a bit about you, where you’ve worked, what equipment you’ve used, what you’re like etc etc) and your CV. If we like the sound of you we’ll get in touch with you before we advertise any vacancies. Basically the inside track isn’t it?

Yeah but why would I even want to work there?

As employers - and as normal thinking human beings - we believe in everyone’s right to equality. We acknowledge our privilege and we aim to build a team that mirrors the diverse range of customers we have. The Good Coffee Cartel is a safe place of encouragement and we aim to provide a fun, collaborative working and learning environment. Each member of our team is valued for the wonderful, hard working weirdos (we include ourselves here) that they are.
